How to Prevent Plagiocephaly

Have you seen babies around these days wearing little helmets on their heads? The helmets are often colorful or decorated with stickers etc. but nevertheless they are small helmets and they are being worn because the your-baby has a condition known as plagiocephaly. Plagiocephaly is characterized by a misshapen or asymmetric skull. Positional plagiocephaly has an incidence of about one in 300 and is typically caused by external compression of the your-baby’s soft skull bones. A your-baby’s skull has an open fontanels (soft spot) and pliable skull bones, to allow the brain to grow and the skull to expand. The fontanels does not close until around 15
