Dollar Store Recalls Children’s Halloween Lanterns

by The Kid's Doctor Staff

If you have bought a children’s Halloween lantern from a Dollar Tree store recently, the Consumer Product Safety Commission wants you to know that these products have been recalled.

Discount store operator Dollar Tree Stores Inc. is voluntarily recalling some battery-run pumpkin, ghost and skull Halloween lanterns because the bulbs in them may overheat, creating potential fire and burn hazards.

No injuries have been reported. There is one report of a lantern bulb overheating.

The action was taken in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Dollar Tree said Thursday that the recall includes about 682,000 lanterns sold for about $1 each in Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Occasions, Deal$ and Dollar Tree Deal$ stores between August and October.

Consumers are advised to take the recalled lanterns away from children immediately. They should then remove and properly dispose of the batteries and return the lanterns where they were purchased for a full refund.

Earlier this month Dollar Tree recalled 275,000 projector flashlights due to fire and burn hazards.
